The exact phrase is:
"Pendant controls are grouped on the paddle, (the wide part of the pendant), and the
handle."
The term "paddle" refers to the upper part of a controller (shaped like a boat paddle -wide on top, slim at the lower part) which contains some keys, so as to make the distinction with the keys that are found in the handle of the controller (i.e. the slim lower part of the controller). Do you have any ideas that can help?
I have thought of the term "κύριο τμήμα" (which is more generic and loses the descriptive element of the paddle shape) and a colleague has suggested the term "πλάκα" but I think something better can be found.

Το paddle σημαίνει και πτερύγιο.
Από την άλλη το σχήμα παραμπέμπει και σε ρακέτα. Στις ρακέτες το πλατύ μέρος λέγεται κεφαλή.

Νομίζω μπορείς να το πεις χωρίς κανένα πρόβλημα «κεφαλή χειριστηρίου», όπως προτείνει ο Δημήτρης, την πρώτη φορά και μετά ενδεχομένως απλά «κεφαλή».

I think that in this case the only way to address this 'paddle' part of the pendant is this desciptive way.
