German term

binnendifferenzierten Leistungsanspruch

German to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy Teaching human rights
This is from a description of the way human rights can be taught using examples from the holocaust and other historical events as well as enabling students to experience the rights for themselves.

I am rather stumped by this phrase at the moment and would be very grateful for any suggestions!

Thank you,
Rachel

a student-centred approach to expectations of achievement

internally differentiated = student/pupil-centred learning

Plenty of hits for "student-centred approach" + "expectations of achievement", though none for "student-centred approach to expectations of achievement"

internally differentiated (performance) expectations

I'm fairly sure about the "internally differentiated", based on the reference provided by Wikipedia: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binnendifferenzierung‎

However, I am not so sure about the Leistungsanspruch in a pedagogic context.

internally developed performance standards

Based on Wikipedia’s definition of “Binnendifferenzierung,” the main point seems to be that each group of learners would have their own yardsticks by which their performance is measured instead of relying on more detached, objective standards. The goal behind this approach is to exploit the diversity of backgrounds found in each group rather than diminish it. See example below.

"Traditional schools are driven by external goals and developed with little teacher input, whereas jazz schools embrace learning as an ongoing process, creativity, teachers working in small groups, and internally developed performance standards.”
