Discussion

Natalie Pavey (X) Aug 22, 2013:
chisel pick AH, I couldn't find any images of a chisel pick but that definitely does not correspond to the drawing.
Jackie Doble Aug 22, 2013:
chisel pick vs. hand axe au contraire! I think that a chisel or a pick (but probably not chisel-pick) is much bigger than a hand axe (which is held in the hand, so must be able to fit into the palm of the hand) !
See this link: http://www.stone-toolco.com/ads/prehistoric-chisel-pick-flin...
which shows it to have a handle, and is a much bigger item. All that being said, we have no picture to go by in the translation, except that it says its small!
Natalie Pavey (X) Aug 22, 2013:
chisel pick vs. hand axe I think the choice between chisel pick and hand axe depends on how big the tool is, and a hand axe is generally larger. Chisel pick also seems to be the most direct translation, in addition to corresponding to the size of the tool.

chisel pick

My suggestion (I imagine ciseaux to refer to chisel rather than scissors, in the context).

hand axe or stone age tool

If the photos in Pascale's answer are correct for pic-ciseaux, then the only possible answer is hand axe: see link below
However, more generally, they are simply referred to as stone age tools, although this does include arrow heads as well.
Peer comment(s):

agree Natalie Pavey (X) : Must agree with this one! (Hand axe, not stone age tool which is too general)
