Italian term

mettiamocelo nella zucca

Italian to English Bus/Financial Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
This comes from the final sentence of a case study on portfolio monitoring for a retail bank

Any suggestions?

I agree Fiona. The client is not ING but this is just a quote from them so I'll suggest dropping it altogether or adding something completely different. For the purposes of the whole document it can easily be left out.

One student in Milan translated it as "use your loaf !" (slide 24)

Here a compromise might be :
To borrow from the slogan we use in Italy, "we need to get it into our "pumpkin" heads that .... "
Fiona Grace Peterson Jul 3, 2013:
. I see that ING Direct has been taken over by Barclays in the UK. What country is your target audience? I would contact your client and explain, as the others have said, that the pumpkin reference doesn't translate... you could use the symbol in your target country and find something that fits, if your client agrees. Alternatively, simply lose the reference and find something snappy. But I think you need to discuss it with your client in any case. Buon lavoro!!

let's stick it in our heads

I think you'll have to lose the reference to the pumpkin, which is the symbol of this bank.

Or rather, of this specific type of account.

neutral philgoddard : I kind of half understand what you're saying here, and I've found the bank you're talking about, but I still don't get it and you haven't given any references.

What reference should I give?! The solution needs to be creative, there's no right or wrong - where can I find a reference for something I put together? Unless you mean a reference for the saying "to stick it in one's head"...
agree JudyC : phil : see discussion note re "pumpkin"

let's get it into our pumpkin + translators' note

I would tranlsate like that and then explain the pun in a translator's note.
