Good morning all!
I wonder if any of you have any nice suggestions for the term "teknologitrenden" in the following context:
"Selskapene er godt posisjonert i den interessante teknologitrenden Big Data, og de utnytter industrielle koblinger til den verdensledende norsk olje- og gassindustrien."
I also have a reference for Big Data here: http://uk.emc.com/campaign/bigdata/index.htm
So far I have adjusted the phrase to "...within the interesting trend in the field of technology, Big Data,..." but I am still not keen on 'trend' as a translation in this context. Also 'interesting' sounds rather dull, so you're welcome to have a bash at than an' all.
Many thanks in advance,
Richard

big data trend
bid data seems to be a trend in itself.
No need for the designator tech/technology, we all know IT and data technology are, well, technologies.
I would not capitalize BD, because it is not a company or product name, more a generic designator...

trending technology (field)
Just an off-the-bat suggestion.

You said you're not too keen on "trend". The word "emergent" comes to mind as an alternative. Although the source doesn't in the strictest sense use this word, it is implied and certainly the case with Big Data.

big data movement
For the source term 'teknologitrenden big data', a possible translation in AmE is big data movement.
To most accurate term is 'Big Data Paradigm', however, the sample given is more informal, so paradigm might not fit.
References are for both paradigm and movement.

Exciting new tech-movement
It depends on the reciever, etc., but I think that tech-movement would be a good alternative, if maybe slightly hyperbolic?
Something went wrong...
