La ausencia de la conjunción “o” hace que la frase resulte incongruente. Pero lo más me sorprende es constatar cómo este error se ha reproducido por la red como si fuese por esporas.

Esto es lo que entiendo de la forma que está escrito. Si tuviera la conjunción "or", como Toni Castano observó, el sentido cambiaría:
"si cualquier / alguna (instalación de) cañería(s)/tubería (s) presentase pérdidas o una caída de presión considerable..."
"si cualquier / alguna (instalación de) cañería(s)/tubería (s) presentase pérdidas o una caída de presión considerable..."
