Reading Lisa's entry about the background of the text, I think what the source is trying to convey is that most firms tend to add their values to their company statement almost as an afterthought. Something that everyone does so they all feel they have to jump on the bandwagon and make up a few values that make their business sound good.

It's the same in the majority of sectors and you are absolutely right Lisa, most businesses don't put them into practice ;).

Hi Yvette The document deals with predictions about the state of the pharmaceutical industry in the next 20 years and actions to take. Here they are discussing companies' mission, vision and values, particularly the importance of values that are adhered to, as opposed to just being cited. A lot of companies talk about their values but don't really put them into practice.
