Hola! Que tal? Quisiera saber como podria traducir ese termino... Viene de esta parte del texto:
Deduje de su mirada una exploración siniestra. En su sonrisa entendí la burla de su gesto cuando mis confusiones me hicieron tartamudear. En vez de decirme «mucho gusto», la fórmula de cortesía esperada, me dijo: «Hasta aquí ha llegado la noticia de que cantas muy bien nuestras canciones, ¿será?».
Muchas gracias por la ayuda!!!

I realised that his (false) smile belied his true nature
In English, we use the word "gesture" in this sort of context very rarely - far less so than "gesto" in Spanish and "geste" in French, so a literal translation doesn't often work. This calls for a rewording of the phrase, suggesting various rather free solutions, perhaps along the following lines:
His fake smile revealed his treachery/falseness/true character
It was when he smiled that I saw through him
It was his false smile that betrayed him
It was the falseness of his smile that gave him away
... or any combination or rearrangement of the above
