Discussion
I plan to leave the acronyms in brackets next to the translated term (G-Can), (CMP) etc. since there aren't equivalent ones in my target language.
I have a suggestion:- Why doesn't Stamatis leave the English version as is! i.e. Ground Cans with a separate note, if need be, explaining what G.Cans are. I noticed in the last site you gave, Jansa, (http://www.pct.com.gr/index.php?option=com_content&view=arti... they use the word ''seanairgy''., by which they mean 'a synergy between the air and sea entities of Pireaus Port and Athens Airport. Now, that is a new word which can hardly be translated (shortly) into Greek. So they left it as is. Why not leave G.Cans as it is in English??

Also: Εμπορευματοκιβώτιο

I am not suggesting that these containers are called "κοντέινερ επί εδάφους", but simply that they are placed on the ground and that they don't have rollers (wheels).
As for your other question " how can you define the 'Ground' which is one of the above BUT used both in aircraft and on land", please read this:
For air freight the alternative and lighter IATA-defined Unit Load Device is used.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intermodal_container
and also:
A unit load device (ULD), is a pallet or container used to load luggage, freight, and mail on wide-body aircraft and specific narrow-body aircraft. (Wikipedia)
So you can see that the containers used in air freight are of different size.

I am in no way suggesting none of these solutions: "'Αεροκιβώτια ξηράς' ??????, 'Κοινά κιβώτια αέρος και ξηράς'???" because "Αεροκιβώτια" as a term does not exist in Greek language.
'Can', 'Container', 'Pod', are all the same, but how can you define the 'Ground' which is one of the above BUT used both in aircraft and on land.
Wikipedia (ULD - Unit Loading Device): ...ULD containers, also known as cans....,, αρά πρόκειται για κοντέινερ.
