German term

Vormerkkaution

German to English Bus/Financial Construction / Civil Engineering
Hi

This term appears on a website and is describing the process required for acquiring planning permission and making planning applications.

I am not sure how as to translate Vormerkkaution.

Many thanks

Mark

Discussion

Richard Stephen Apr 6, 2013:
How did you translate 'Vormerkliste'? I think you would need to use the same term for 'Vormerkkaution'.
Perhaps 'reservation list'; then 'reservation deposit'

refundable reservation deposit

Can this be one of those "created" German words specifically for this situation. "Kaution" indicates the refundable nature, "Vormerk" the reservation part.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Richard Stephen : 'Kaution' indicates a deposit (which may be refundable in many cases, but not necessarily).

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you - I used this term minus refundable"

provisional deposit

This may be a solution.

Sorry for the long link -- I'm not sure how to post links to PDF's:
