Buttplate / heel of butt stock / trapdoor
The heel of the stock is the rear part of the stock that comes into contact with the shoulder. Solid stocked M16A1s commonly had a trapdoor in the buttplate (correct spelling מטמורת) that opened to reveal a cavity for a cleaning kit.
