"divulgativo" means "written in simple language accessible to the general public, not only to experts or scientists". Italian dictionaries usually translate "divulgativo" as "popular"...but I'm not sure if it is correct...

Thanks, Phil! Actually "divulgativo" in this context is more in the sense of "accessible" written "in simple terms", explaining technical terms so that also the layman can understand

: I would have thought all scientific texts were written for information purposes. We don't know the full context, but I think the "ma" implies some sort of contrast.
