Italian term

tiratura dichiarata

Italian to English Other Printing & Publishing
Ciao tutti,

I'm hoping you can help me quickly with this one - I'm and the translating a press release for a publishing house, and they are discussing how they plan to run an exclusive art campaign, offering works of art each with a corresponding printed monograph, and they are all "a tiratura limitata e dichiarata."

Sentence: Le opere sono realizzate in una tiratura limitata e dichiarata di esemplari multipli.

Grazie!!

Note Hi everyone - I saw Google hits for both "stated" and "declared" (and for that matter, registered) but I was wondering if anyone else has translated this before?

registered edition

I am fairly certain that it means the artist has actually registered the limited edition with an Arts Registry of some sort. It gives the limited run more authenticity.
A "tiratura limitata" can be issued by anybody, anytime, so the fact that it is also "dichiarata" gives the work more substance.

Oh great!
Note from asker:
Hi Trish, I actually ended up using "registered" for my translation, so I'm glad that someone else had my same line of thinking!

limited print run

or limited edition:
http://www.wordhippo.com/what-is/another-word-for/limited_pr...

a limited print run always has, by definition, a set, predetermined and definite number of copies.
Saying it has a defined number of copies, after you have said "limited print run" would be redundant.
