This is from an instruction manual for a vascular closure device.

Rotate the entire VCD to ensure the ***loading cannula skive*** is facing downwards (see figure 4).
Insert the loading cannula into the sheath-hub (through the seal in the hub); by positioning the apex (point) of the ***loading cannula skive*** on the guidewire and using the guidewire as the pathway to insert the loading cannula into the sheath hub.
