Spanish term

el boga

Spanish to English Other Ships, Sailing, Maritime Maritime
I understand that paddle is the English Word for: “remar, bogar, remo, canalete” but what is the Word for “boga”, meaning the person who paddles?
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Yvonne Gallagher

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Así que no se trataba de "paddle", sino de "oar".

paddler // oarsman / rower

"Boga" can also mean the action of rowing or paddling, but you are asking particularly about the English word for a person who rows or paddles.

English distinguishes between rowing, with an oar, and paddling, with a paddle. The distinction is that an oar is supported by the boat, being held in a round device on the edge of the boat called a rowlock (British English) or oarlock (American English) ("tolete" in Spanish), whereas a paddle is held in the person's hands. Paddles are used in canoes of various kinds. A paddle can have a blade at one end or at both ends (used in kayaks).

A person who paddles with a paddle is called a paddler. A person who rows with an oar is called either an oarsman or a rower.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paddle

"A canoe is a lightweight narrow boat pointed at both ends and open on top, propelled by one or more seated or kneeling paddlers facing the direction of travel using a single-bladed paddle."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canoe

"In a kayak the paddler typically sits with legs extended forward. [...] The most traditional and early canoes did not have seats, the paddlers merely knelt on the bottom of the boat."
