Measuring devices

The main item of the test rig is the measuring equipment, those serves to evaluate the test runs
and to make a statement about the qualification of the test specimen. The various sensors of the
measuring equipment capture the speed of the electric motor and the flywheel masses, brake
torque, force, brake pressure, air speed of the airflow as well as stresses and temperatures at the
rotating and static part of the test specimen. An important part takes the measuring of the brake
torque, because with the help of this value the coefficient of friction can be determined. At the
RPS1 the brake torque can be measured in two ways.
Once via torsion proof and *shear force rugged torque flange* which is installed between the flywheel masses and the test specimen fixture.
