| Thanks Katalin. I was wondering if 'illetekes' was a noun, but I wasn't sure if it could be combined with a verb in this way: "az illetekes csaladi ellatast fizetni" -"the authority responsible for paying..". It doesn't look very Hungarian to me.. |

You are right, there is a word missing - probably a verb from the following part of the sentence: "hogy 2012. március 1-től a Holland Királyság az elsődlegesen illetékes családi ellátást fizetni"

: "elsődlegesen illetékes" tartozik egybe, nincs hiányzó ige, magyarban 3. személyben a létige rejtett: "én vagyok az illetékes", "te vagy az illetékes", DE: "ő az illetékes" (és NEM: ő van az illetékes).

No, this sentence is not correct, although nothing is missing.

In my opinion, this is a tad overcomplicated. When you look at its logic, they're saying that the person needs to apply for family support in the relevant member state (i.e. the Netherlands) *because* (as of March 1, 2012) the Netherlands has been primarily responsible for such payments. Either "having regard" or "therefore" could have been omitted:
"Tekintettel arra, hogy ......., kérjük, a családi ellátást az adott tagállamban megigényelni szíveskedjenek."
"Having regard to the fact that ......, we ask that you apply for family support in the relevant member state"
OR
"....a Holland Királyság az elsődlegesen illetékes ......, ezért kérjük, hogy a családi ellátást az adott tagállamban megigényelni szíveskedjenek."
"....the Netherlands has been primarily responsible .......; therefore, we ask that you apply for family support in the relevant member state"
(I would also rephrase this part: "megigényelni szíveskedjenek" - szíveskedjenek igényelni)

If you are to maintain the rather verbose style and complicated phrasing of the source text, then you should leave it as is. If you are expected to produce a translation that improves the text and reads well, then I suggest ignoring either "tekintettel arra" or "ezért". The improved version will still convey the original meaning.

: You are right about the mismatches. Unfortunately Hungarian bureocratic language is often full of such errors. However, the asker's problem had to do with understanding the meaning, probably because "illetékes családi ellátás" seemed to belong together.

Why guess what he 'thought'... I answered the questions he posted: "Is this a correct sentence?"/"Is there a word missing?" If he had a problem w/"illetékes családi ellátás" he could have just said so... ;) Nevertheless, I think he got his answer(s) :D
