Spanish term

control analítico

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)
Hola!

This term is taken from a study on B12 deficiency in diabetic patients who take metformin. I am struggling with this term in this context and would appreciate any help..

A todos se les realizó una determinación de vitamina B12, coincidiendo con un control analítico de la DM2, tras un periodo de tratamiento continuado con metformina de un año o mayor.

So far, I have come up with: analytical control, analytical test and clinical test.

Gracias!

Discussion

Ellen Storey May 2, 2012:
CCT If it's a trial (RCT or CCT) could it be referring to the control group used?
CONTROL GROUP: The standard by which experimental observations are evaluated. In many clinical trials, one group of patients will be given an experimental drug or treatment, while the control group is given either a standard treatment for the illness or a placebo

Please post your answer, Wendy, so that I can agree with it. Lab tests is perfect :)
Wendy Cummings May 2, 2012:
lab tests the "analitico" usually refers to tests being done in the lab - e.g. blood work, so this would seem to be that the status of the patient's diabetes was checked using lab tests at the same that their B12 levels were measured.
