Yes, ANDRAS MOHAY, IN THE CONTEXT of the passage you referred to, 'OWN CONTRIBUTION' is spot on. BUT, is that what the ASKED text refers to. It rather refers to somebody who PUT A SHARE, who PARTICIPATED by a said %age in an investment. Different from your proposition. It is difficult to give the right translation, from an 'out of context' sentence and one looks to other words for hidden meanings. In this case this word is 'EPENDYSI'. Like Kyriakos said, if it were to refer to INSURANCE then, correctly, it would have been 'EXCESS'.
