Spanish term

serie animal

Spanish to English Other Wine / Oenology / Viticulture Sense of smell
Hi all,

This term appears in a list of different types of smell (includnig serie floral, serie balsamico, etc).

How would this be translated into English? "Animal series" seems to return a lot of results on google about TV shows, with "Animal range" not providing much more clarification!

What is the specific term used to translate this into English?

Many thanks in advance,

Darren

Actually, that ref I provided above re 'animal series' relates to perfumes!

Here's one related to wine spcifically:

***Animal (series) aromas in wines** that are generally at their stage of aging in bottle. Remember the leather, wet fur, hunting, etc.. and pleasant.

gamey range

not sure whether your problem is with "animal" or "série", but the trusty Lexivin gives "gamey" for "animal".

Having said that, I'm pretty sure I've also seen "animal" used in EN

animal notes

In a general context, "notes" would be a bit confussing, but it's the technical term used for identifiable smell components, so it may be the best here.
