low run rate

I’m translating a work instruction about using metal detectors in a confectionery factory.
,,Rejection confirmation
There are different types of rejection mechanism in place on the Metal/ X-Ray Detectors:
i. Air Blast/ Pusher Arm: product is physically pushed off the conveyor into the metal reject bin
ii. Retracting Belt (closed default position): belt retracts to allow the product to drop into the reject bin below. If the mechanism is disabled e.g. due to a fault or during a failsafe test, the conveyor will default to a closed position
iii. Belt stop mechanism for certain products that are exposed to damage if rejected by standard reject mechanisms such as 2kg characters and egg products running at a very low run rate. This method can only be used by authorisation from the Technical department and the detector set up by a trained engineer. ‘’
I am not clear about the meaning of ‘’low run rate’’. Does this imply that these particular products travel very slowly on the conveyor belt and their number in a batch is relatively low?
Thank you

Here is a link that explains "run rate": http://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/owner_earnings_run_rate....

I really wanted to find something that referred to "a low run rate" as the slow speed at which the products were moving along the belt but I haven't been lucky. This makes me think that they must be referring to the "run rate" explained in the link I've posted above. Although I admit I would prefer it to be the rate at which the products are moving.

Note from asker:
Thank you Helena. I've concluded that what they mean is ''low production rate'', as you have suggested. |
