without failure to do so having any disadvantageous legal consequences

neutral Vitaliy Rysyuk : "disadvantageous" in comparison to what? Have you ever seen advantageous legal consequences?
3 hrs
it is not for me to determibne whether there might be advantageous consequences elsewhere, the author has clearly thought there could by by using "nachteilige", though I agree adverse would also be acceptable
agree Horst Huber (X) : How about something like "withour incurring ... in case of failure .."?

Thanks Horst . though I woud tend to use "in the event of failure to .." if at all

I would make a second sentence:

....Failure to do so will have no negative legal consequences.

Or:

No negative legal consequences will ensue if this stipulation is ignored.

neutral AllegroTrans : whilst not "wrong" your suggestion is unwieldy and a bit on the clumsy side

Should you handle with any legal or patent documents, you must note that their style and structure are normally of that kind. And I have translated a great number of them.
neutral David Wright : This is very unwieldy - and in reply to your comment on AllegroTrans' note, I have serious doubts about your ability to translate legal texts.

Your doubts remain just yours and my 12-year legal and translation practices with one of the top law offices, with Degrees in Law and Linguistics, suggest that I should disregard your "serious doubts".
neutral Steffen Walter : Please do not use all-caps, which is considered "shouting" in web-based communications. Thanks.
