This is part of a text describing a plant protection product. Could I simply say 'to encourage/to optimise healthy growth' here?

Discussion

Sheila Hardie (asker) Jan 10, 2012:
Hi Eden, Thanks for your reply. The document does not actually specify where it should be used - just mentions that it can be used to treat cereal crops. So, perhaps 'striking' is not the correct term.
Linda Ildevert (X) Jan 10, 2012:
Reprise IATE defines reprise as striking, cloning or rooting: a technique for vegetatively (asexually) propagating plants in which a piece of the source plant containing at least one stem cell is placed in a suitable medium such as moist soil, potting mix, coir or rock wool
I suppose it means growing a new plant from a cutting, which would probably be done indoors/in a greenhouse.
Does your doc specify where the product is used (outdoors or indoors?)
Sheila Hardie (asker) Jan 10, 2012:
Reprise Thanks for the answers so far. My first thought was 'regrowth', however I'm not sure that is the term required here. GDT gives the following definition for 'reprise':

Domaine(s) :
- agriculture
horticulture
français
anglais

reprise n. f.
striking

Définition :
Développement normal d'un plant après repiquage.

The plant protection product described in my text is used on cereals, by the way. Sheila
