Dès la troisième édition de son dictionnaire (1740), l'Académie française indique l'orthographe événement. Lors de la septième édition (1878), l'Académie a rectifié l'accentuation de plusieurs mots pour suivre l'évolution phonétique de la langue : ainsi, collége et avénement ont été changés en collège et avènement. Toutefois, quelques mots, dont événement, n'ont pas été rectifiés, et cette orthographe est toujours utilisée au XXIe siècle[1].

On peut comprendre " it's a do" dans le sens de "do's and don'ts" la liste des à / ne pas, sous-entendu "buying/ having it is a do".

I suspect the phrase "It's a do" is being used here in the way it is used in the fashion industry, i.e. yes, a tick of approval, it gets our vote, you should, etc., possibly originating in Glamour magazine.
