It's a peculiarity of the test . . . Proteinuria is not usually quantified. It can be, but standard laboratory testing for protein in the urine is usually done by using a dipstick (colorimetric testing) which is a lot cheaper than electrophoresis methods. So instead of getting the type of result you get from serum protein levels, which is reported in g/dL, urine protein is reported by a series of plus signs, from + to ++++. Therefore, unlike blood tests, a medical report would simply write up proteinuria as being negative, positive or high.

For the record I was unable to find "proteinuria de alto rango"....only proteinuria de alto nivel, or proteinuria de alto grado...

I was trying to link your phrase with "left ventricular hypertrophy", hence my conclusions.
