The part of this term that is bothering me is "pur". I have found the translation for the rest of the term: "primary nephrotic syndrome" 196 000 Google results
The problem is that when I put "pure" before this term, Google only gives 6 results for "pure primary nephrotic syndrome"
This makes me think that there might be a better translation for "pur" in a medical context...

: 'Pur' simply means that the nephrotic syndrome is ONLY nephrotic (meaning that its clinical and laboratory characteristics are nephrotic only), as compared to a mixed ('impur') syndrome, which has characteristics of both (nephrotique and nephritique).

You better check the French definitions IMO. "Pur si la protéinurie est sélective".

: this almost corresponds to the French definition of "syndrome néphrotique pur" however selective proteinuria is not the only feature - see refs - primitif = primary or idiopathic IOW unknown aetiology

So it is not only the selective proteinuria that deems a PNS "pure" but the absence of haematuria, hypretension and renal failure.
This corresponds to the English definition of "pure nephrotic syndrome" but we do not make the distinction of selective proteinuria.

The retained salt and water is primarily restricted to extracellular fluid volume. Because of decreased plasma oncotic pressure (due to albuminuria), there is disproportionate increase in the size of the interstitial fluid volume. The plasma volume remains normal, until there is
profound hypoalbuminemia (<2g/dl). There may be associated pleural effusions and ascites with severe volume retention. Since intravascular volume remains normal, pulmonary edema is not a feature of nephrotic syndrome. Hypercholesterolemia is frequently present with nephrotic
syndrome.

pure is used in this case, whether with or without quotes. Small number of hits for "pure primary/idiopathic nephrotic syndrome" may just reflect small number of references to pure syndromes and/or the fact that the syndrome in the context is understood to be primary and "primary" is not expressed.
