Japanese term

症状における利益

Japanese to English Medical Other Patient survey
I am backtranslating into English a survey that was previously translated into Japanese by another translator. This is a standalone phrase that appears as the title of a medical study on patient perceptions of the benefits of chemotherapy. I can't think of an equivalent phrase in English that really makes sense...To make things even more difficult, I can't use the word "benefit" because it is used throughout the survey as a translation for 効果. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Cisplatin-based chemotherapy seems to improve the control of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)-related symptoms, but assessment of symptomatic gain in these patients is often difficult.
