I don't think "cutanee" needs to be translated.

mucosal surfaces//mucous membranes

It's worded very strangely, if not medically incorrect, in Italian. You can say mucous membranes or mucosal surfaces. Adding skin would be wrong. Skin does not equal mucosa, although mucosa is contiguous with skin at several places (at the nostrils, the mouth, the lips, the eyelids, the ears, the genital area, and the anus).

mucosae OR skin

skin and mucosae are the same thing really, so choose one or the other. You might want to say "delicate skin" or "delicate mucosae" though as that is what they seem to be driving home. These two sites say the opposite of each other.... !

Let's get right down to our subject: the vagina and how to be healthy "down there." Vaginal wellness really comes down to a balancing act based on two basic facts. First, the vagina and vulva are not skin. They are mucous membranes.

1. So the intimate environment is actually skin?

Yes! Many women think it's mucosa (moist tissue that lines particular organs and body cavities throughout the body, including your nose, mouth, lungs, and gastrointestinal tract); but it is skin which is delicate in make up and needs careful looking after.

disagree Lirka : the skin is the same as mucous membranes? That's [major] news to me. How about those disinfectants that say "for skin only; do not use on mucous membranes"??

sorry, I expressed that badly - I meant that as they are contiguous, as you say, they should be considered together and not as separate entities.
