CONTEXT:

L'opposante ukrainienne Ioulia Timochenko, incarcérée depuis le 5 août, souffrirait d'une mystérieuse maladie.

Son état s'est encore détérioré, a affirmé, vendredi 19 août, une porte-parole de l'ancienne première ministre

"L'enquête ne tient pas la route, le régime ne peut pas la détruire juridiquement et nous craignons qu'il ne la détruise par d'autres moyens", a poursuivi Mme Lyssova

They can't remove himlegally so they will try other means. Illness possibly as a result of poisoning perhaps.

through the legal system

Myabe this is one of my own "bêtes noires" but 'juridiquement' does not mean legally in the sense of its opposite being illegal. It means via the legal system, thus through the courts. Do you see what I mean?

The régime cannot destroy her through the legal system and we fear they may resort to other means.
