Thank you Toni. Yes, that helps.
Tony Isaac Aug 10, 2011:
Other possibilities I've had trouble with 'adequació' in the past; it's very difficult to get it to sound 'neat', some kind of paraphrase is nearly always needed. How about "preparation of x archaeological site for public access/public viewing/viewing by public" It's tricky if you want to emphasise the fact that the preparations were carried out AND the public were allowed in. It would have to be something like "x archaeological site prepared for visitors and opened to public" Any help?

Proposed translations

providing access for visitors to an archaeological site

I imagine they're talking about walkways, viewing platforms, etc. You could add 'surface' (providing surface access for visitors) if you think the distinction is useful but it may not be necessary in English.

Note from asker:
Hi Toni, Thank you for your comments. The article speaks about how an archaeological site has been prepared for public use. They use "adequació" throughout and I can't find an exact word for it. There are several layers of remains from different periods and they have "prepared" the site so that people can access it and understand what they are seeing. Do you think "Preparation and public use of x archaeological site" sounds O.K? the title is "L’adequació superficial de X i el seu ús públic"
