French term

Support guichet recommandé

French to English Bus/Financial General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
This comes from a number of postal stamps at the bottom of a formal letter. Is there an English equivalent for this? I haven't been able to find anything conclusive.

Ne pas détacher cette partie fixe du support guichet recommandé.

Thank you!

@ SafeTex I get that mixed up even here in the States (though I shouldn't) – just an old habit that keeps popping up. Thanks.

to see a support guichet recommandé:

This is the form we fill out when we want to send a registered letter in France.

It's not really the stub cos that is what is left, nor just the receipt although the support has carbon paper and you get a copy
cc in nyc May 4, 2011:
Another guess... Perhaps the stamps are for the additional cost of the return receipt?
philgoddard May 4, 2011:
Yes, you're right, cc, it's probably a registered letter. Perhaps you can enlighten us, Rebecca. And why does it have postage stamps at the bottom?
cc in nyc May 4, 2011:
Lettre recommandée avec accusé de réception ? Sounds like the printed directions on the stub for a return receipt. See http://fr.narkive.com/2007/2/10/697307-lrar.html
philgoddard May 4, 2011:
What is the letter for? What does it say? You could possibly just say "Do not detach" and leave out the rest of the sentence, but we need some context.

See the discussion entries. There are lots of things you could call this, but this stays close to the French.
