Another US vs. GB question: In the US, we call the things you push a baby around in a baby carriage, or maybe a baby buggy (if it's the kind the baby is lying down in; if the baby is sitting up, it's a stroller) What about in other English-speaking countries? I know the word "pram" is considered to be the British word for this, but is that the only word used, or do they use the term "carriage" (or "buggy") as well? Could "carriage" be a country-neutral term, or does it sound definitely American?

If it was good enough for me, as I travelled the streets of my native England 50+ years ago, gleefully propelled at high speed by my adoring mother, I reckon 'pram' is good enough for any modern upstart.

: Memories? Can you really remember being pushed in your pram? I certainly can't remember back that far!

Thanks Jack. Fond memories, eh? // Oh yes! I remember being 'parked' for hours on end outside Lasts' pastry shop in Crouch St., Colchester, while my mum gossiped with the owner.// Hmmm ... memories, yes. But maybe not so 'fond'!

: Yes. Perambulator is (I suspect) the full word for "pram". I don't think, however, "pram" is too localised to the UK. Carriage is US or very old fashioned elsewhere. (Although not as pompous as some have suggested)

: Since the asker is seeking a country-neutral term, I don't think this would work for a U.S. audience.

Asker seems to know the US terms and is asking for equivalents in other English-speaking countries, not for something 'neutral'.

stroller
I usually use the word "stroller."
I am from the U.S., though, so I am not sure how it sounds in other countries.

: As far as I know this is the Canadian word as well. I’ve never heard of a “baby carriage” or a “baby buggy”.

I never heard "baby carriage" used here; we use "pram" where the baby is lying down (these devices usually have 4 wheels)
