: Yes, just a 'cheque' — the word order is simply shorthand for 'remise de chèques avec b/reau' (my bank says this, with a nO; that corresponds to the number on my personalized paying-in slips

This is bank jargon, and should be tranlsated into jargon.
(Those of you familar with the delightful term "commission d'intervention" will understand what I'm getting at...)
