French term

matrice

French to English Art/Literary Photography/Imaging (& Graphic Arts) Secondary rights publishing contract
In context:

"Ce droit couvre notamment la diffusion qui pourrait être faite de l’Oeuvre, de ses adaptations et traductions, graphiques ou non graphiques, à partir d’un support destiné à la vente ou de toute autre matrice, dans des réseaux internes à des entreprises ou des groupes d’entreprises, des bibliothèques ou des groupes de bibliothèques, des établissement d’enseignement de tous les degrés, ainsi que toute autre personne morale de droit public ou privé."

I'm puzzled by this use of 'matrice' - is it simply a straight synonym of 'support' in this context, or something else? Is 'matrix' an acceptable translation in this context?

support / format

Yes, I think it is being used here as a synonym, to avoid repetition of the word "support".

Thanks Frank. Yes, though I was thinking more of format as in "medium format", jpeg format etc.
