French term

Repère topo.

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng Components/design
In a technical document listing the components used in a device and their ageing characteristics (used as part of calculating the device's reliability/expected life).

"Repère topo." is the recurrent heading over the first column of numerous tables. The other headings are typically "Réf."; "Valeur"; "U service".

Typical entries under "Repère topo." are "C70, C75" (capacitors); "VZ3" (transistors/diodes).

My assumption is that "Repère topo." refers to the labels on the layout diagrams (and indeed on the boards): however I do not have access to the layouts to confirm this.

Blocking on what to call these in English – suggestions welcomed.

Part No. / Item No.

I have come across this before quite often in lists of parts. The "topo" bit is a bit misleading, and may not have anything to do with topological distribution or layout. Of course, in a complex pcb each component must be uniquely and correctly identified so that the pick and place machine will put it exactly where it should be.
