Spanish term

Curar (drugs slang)

Spanish to English Other Slang Drugs
This is drugs slang. Heard in conversation where drugs have been hidden in a car to take it over the Mexican border:
1. Voy a clavar 3 kilos de perico, pero no lo voy a curar. No voy a curar nada.
I'm going to stash 3 kgs of cocaine, but I'm not going to ____ it. I'm not going to _____????

Que significa "curar" en la jerga de drogas de Mexico?

Thx

patinba Sep 24, 2010:
If you say that "shoot it up" does not apply then you must have more relevant context that you are not giving us, because what we have could well mean : "I have a big stash, but I am not going to use any of it"
Marialba Baez (asker) Sep 24, 2010:
really...no more context Phil, there is really no more context this is just two guys talking all kind of stuff and these snippets about the clavo and curar comes up, before that is all Yes, guey, what the F*** with that Sh**, pa' la v*** and all kinds of bad language and talk that doesn't say anything...hard for them to complete a sentence. Por eso es dificil. Saludos

It would help a lot if you could give more context - you say it's confidential, but you've still managed to give us two sentences. Surely you could tell us what's before and after this without revealing anything you shouldn't? I'm inclined towards patinba's answer because it includes a dictionary reference, but it would be nice to have confirmation.
Marialba Baez (asker) Sep 24, 2010:

Sorry, just thinking aloud in my last comments, interested in the answers you receive.

On the other opposite side, it may be a slang way of saying that he is risking so much yet not been paid enough!
Anne Smith Campbell Sep 24, 2010:
Maybe more conversation or context would help, I somehow seem to appreciate a drug leader feeling bad... he is stashing cocaine, and he feels against this, he is not going to cure/help/save anyone??? Just a thought that came to me after reading the phrase you've added as context.

cut

This is just a guess really, but it would make sense. Cocaine is often 'cut' (adulterated) with a cheaper substance to bulk it out and make it more profitable. For the slang term 'perico' I would use 'coke'.

Hi Marialba. To be honest I'm not sure at all, but Fionn who has agreed with my answer seems pretty sure and he's based in Mexico.
Note from asker:
Thanks. I know "cortar" is to cut, but I didn't know about "curar", but if you are sure, I'll use it.
Peer comment(s):

agree fionn : Curar means cut. I've heard this before and am sure of this.

shoot it up

Mi diccionario de "Narcorics Terms" tiene las siguientes entradas:

curarse to inject, shoot up

Note from asker:
Mine, too, but that term doesn't apply here. Thanks for looking it up, though!
