Highway with a wire divider
This highway type was introduced in Sweden in the beginning of the 2000's. The roadway has 3 lanes with a low steel wire railing dividing the different traffic directions. The wire divider shifts so that for about 2 km one traffic direction has 2 lanes (and passing is possible), and after that the other direction has 2 lanes, etc. It is said to have reduced the number of fatal accidents considerably.
