those are the only places where anyone took any notice of me at all. Cartainly the streetcar driver did not. He would have rung his bell if he had. That was a sloppy business all around, frankly, a harsh thing to say, but there it is. I know the time had ti have been 12:47 precisely, and the streetcar was not due to pass until 12: 49. I was in schedule, but the streetcar was not. I looked up and there it was, and I flung up my arms as if that would have helped, flinging up my arms.

I don’t know enough about the facts of this case to really figure out what the situation is here, but I see no indication that anyone was harmed. At the most, it seems like they had sloppy business practices while they performed a service that the people wanted; but the FDA does not agree with. This seems like it would be a good case for a lawyer to argue that this is a technical violation of civil law and not a criminal violation has no one was actually harmed.

traduco, evidentemente, *a sloppy business* (all around = da ogni punto di vista).
Secondo me il "precisino" non ha mandato giù granché l'anticipo del tranviere e gli girano proprio per essere stato steso... (secco) e credo che si debba conservare questo senso di critica e di rivalsa da cacaspilli.
