The writer of "The Wire" (a series based in Baltimore) is spending time in New Orleans researching the new series he is writing. He is saying that he doesn´t want his script to be taken over; he wants to take the time to study how people live and the way they speak and behave in that city. What he definitely doesn´t want is Hollywood producers on the scene trying to push him in directions he doesn´t want to go, creatively-speaking.
