with inclination in the main direction of the wind

or with inclination parallel to the main direction of the wind.
Although I'm not very comfortable with the term "inclination" but this is what it is.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Kevin G : the Spanish phrase does not mention or imply inclination (in a natural phenomenon this is a change of vertical height over a distance). The text says that the dunes... are parallel to the orientation or direction of the wind (a planimetric feature).

lined parallel (to the prevailing winds)

Inclination (and facing for that matter) might sound like the way the dunes are tilted - (which may be right!) but here is another wayof putting it. I couldn't work 'downwind' into a reasonable phrase

on reflection, perhaps 'lying parallel ' would reflect this natural phenomenon better

if peer agreement is not forthcoming it might still be worth inserting into the glossary
Peer comment(s):

agree K Donnelly : "lying parallel": The ridges may lie parallel to the wind, forming seif (SAFE), or longitudinal dunes, or at right angles to it forming transverse dunes. http://www.galeschools.com/environment/biomes/desert/geograp...
