minor genre

" English literature's remarkable body of travel writings constitutes another counterthrust to the charge of insularity; in autobiography, biography, and historical writing, English literature compares with the best of any culture; and children's literature, fantasy, essays, and journals, which tend to be considered minor genres, are all fields of exceptional achievement as regards English literature."

agree Jim Tucker (X) : was just going to post this. "Graffiti, macrame, female artists and other minor genres have all played their part in the past." http://www.metamute.org/en/In-the-Name-of-Art-Ewan-Morrison-...

mini-genre, niche genre

"The ultimate niche genre

One thing that fascinates me is discovering that what seems like a simple plot idea has been turned into an entire mini-genre of its own. I’m still agog at the wealth of Scottish Highlands time travel romances out there—who knew authors could come up with book after book from the idea?"

sub-genre

A részlet alapján feltételezem, hogy festészeti kisműfajról van szó, így a sub-genre megoldást javaslom. Példák:

"For instance, the sub-genre of 'kitchen paintings' often include scenes of the
butcher's trade, but also evoke the biblical story of the prodigal son. ..."

"... mention of guardroom pictures indicates his familiarity with the sub-genre"

"However, he is outstanding as a painter of architectures, to the extent that his work represented the peak of this sub-genre"

"As a sub-genre of history painting, it was hailed as the one living branch of high art, or artists were urged to adapt it to the exacting demands..."
Peer comment(s):

agree Jim Tucker (X) : Agree that this could work in the right context. Note that not every minor genre is a subgenre of something (cf. graffiti), and also that Hungarian already has the term "alműfaj "

Thank you Jim. As you can see, I am a little hesitant myself as to what exactly is the context, but I relied on the two examples given by the asker: "pl. zsánerfestészet, képi elbeszélések, stb." which are not (sub)genres of literature but of fine arts.
