In base al dizionario De Franchis risulterebbe che il termine 'Legacy' è usato prevalentemente con riferimento alla trasmissione di beni mobili o diritti mobiliari mentre il termine 'Devise' per gli immobili o diritti reali immobiliari.
Penso che la domanda andrebbe però convertita nella coppia EN>IT oppure EN>EN in quanto i termini source da te forniti sono in lingua inglese.

The difference is apparently to do with what kind of property you received - real property or personal property. To be honest I have never seen devisee in an actual document. But then perhaps I haven't translated the right document!

: most Eng. Wills prepared by lawyers, not home-made ones, say 'I hereby bequeath (legacies) and devise....'. That wording would also catch leaseholds which are, in Eng. law, a hybrid form of personalty and realty. See my 'chattel real' agree-comment above.

: if you mean legatee can also encompass devisee, then - yes - the Eng. courts have held as much on the construction of a dodgy = badly drafted Will: 'X is to be legatee of my whole estate including my land.'
