Norwegian term

innlaste

Norwegian to English Bus/Financial Computers: Systems, Networks Banking/accounting
In connection the receipt of payment files from a bank, the files are "innlastet" into the recipient's electronic accounting system. My instinct is "upload"? (I.e. "inload" does not exist in English)

Discussion

rhv Dec 28, 2009:
@Egil Presttun The word upload refers to the party sending the data, and data can be sent from client to client (peer to peer) as well. Also; it is possible to download something else than files. It is better to think of it as data. A stream of information. I think transferred is a good word too.

You can't use "upload" unless you upload files from a client to a server, or unless you send files from your computer/device. It's the opposite of download, which means to receive files.

"innlaste" is not often used, but the phrase "laster inn..." is often in use, and it means "loading...".

In this case, you can also use the word "transfer": the files are transferred into...

Sorry for the typo, should be "upload"
Peer comment(s):

disagree rhv : Wrong tense. Improper English.

A note was added for the typo. It's not improper English.
neutral Frode Aleksandersen : Please be very careful about using machine translation when citing sources. In addition, the one you linked to actually disagrees with you, and uses "loaded" instead, not upload.

Yes, I know it uses loaded, but I thought upload would be correct in the source context.

If it is precisely "innlastet" the correct translation is "uploaded".
You could also use "inserted" or "put into", but I would argue the former mentioned word is the most used.
