: Yes, and the word 'little' in the original sentence refers to the dance (not the age of the prospector like the other answers suggest).//I was saying that your answer is the only right one. The word little REFERS to the DANCE and nothing else.

dança dos felizes mineiros pequenos (e.g. miner for gold)
a prospector = auqele que trabalha nas minas, ex: those working on a gold mine...prospecting for gold, minerals, etc

: I'm sorry to have to disagree but the word 'little' in the original sentence refers to the dance, not the age of the prospector// :-) I wouldn't have remembered either. But please see my discussion entry about the other of adjectives. Boas festas.

: I'm sorry to have to disagree but the word 'little' in the original sentence refers to the dance, not the age of the prospector.//I checked it with my (British) husband before I posted my disagree...I just don't know how to explain why it is the dance :-(

No problem Paula, we're all together in this! I do think however that if "little" referred to the dance, then it would read "prospector's little dance", as opposed to "little prospector's dance". Paula, I probably should've asked my American hubby as well

Anyway, here is one of many sites on this subject. This one even has some exercises at the bottom.

I hope this helps to explain what I was trying to say. Thanks.
I sure appreciate your willingness to explain. We'll get back to it tomorrow : )
