The approximate yield to maturity formula (AYM) provides an almost identical result. The AYM formula is:
(Par – B0)
C + n
AYM = x 100
(Par + B0) ÷ 2
Where: AYM = approximate yield to maturity
C = annual coupon payment in dollars
Par = the bond’s par value
B0 = the bond’s current market price
n = the number of years remaining until maturity
