Il est difficile de choisir entre arôme et parfum sans contexte plus précis, arôme ayant une connotation péjorative (plus artificiel). En tout cas, ne pas utiliser "parfum de" mais parfum tout court.

"Caramel au beurre salé" est typiquement français pour le coup.

Taking into account the Quebec market compared to "hexagonal" French, I doubt that there would be an important stylistic difference in this case.
