Hi. Don't Let the Bastards Grind You Down is a famous mock-Latin phrase from U.S. Gen. Stillwell: Illegitimi nil carborundum. It's also part of the Harvard U. football song. Just wondering how to translate the English phrase into proper Italian? Even better would be the Sicilian dialect translation of Don't Let the Bastards Grind You Down. Thanks so much!

"Nun vi fati schiacciari da 'sti bastardi"
This might be a Sicilian dialect translation of the sentence. Of course, there are different variations of the Sicilian dialect, but I used a pretty "standard" version. Also, when you pronounce the word "bastardi" in Sicilian, you need to make sure to stress the B as if there were two: "bbastardi", but you don't need to write it that way.

: secondo me questa soluzione è troppo connotata regionalmente, considerando il contesto statunitense del testo di partenza.

Sorry, now I've read about the Sicilian translation.
Nun vi faciti 'ngannari ri vastasi.
A sort of Montalbano dictionary here: "vastaso" is bastard.

Non fatevi schiacciare dai bastardi
la frase originale in latino (per quanto inesatta) ha "undum" e quindi implica un qualcosa che è dovuto che si perde in inglese (il "never" sarebbe stato adatto). Partendo dalla frase inglese è da considerare il "to grind" che volendo potrebbe essere posto in italiano come schiacciare/calpestare/macinare
