I understand the words/lyrics - music/harmony word play here. I just can't think of a way to express the same idea in English, hopefully with a musical reference.

To what extent is the musical metaphor significant? Unless you need to preserve it to chime in with another reference, perhaps best to do away with it and give yourself more possibilities. Not sure that these are ideal, but maybe a starting point for more ideas!
