I'd translated it as: Daylight, visual orientation, easy to get ones bearings and a patient-friendly design are the most important characteristics of the architecture

but the client didn't like "easy to get ones bearings" Any help please.

"easy to get one's bearings" doesn't fit grammatically in the series of nouns describing the characteristics. You could replace this with "ease of navigation"

well, as I had originally used "visual orientation" for Sichtbezüge, I can't really use "simple orientation". So if anybody could give help with the two (Sichtbezüge and einfache Orientierung) I would be grateful.

Yes, you are right, but I'd still favour "visual links".
