Do you think "grass turf" is an appropriate translation even for a section's heading (i.e. "il manto erboso"). They are referring to the park's grass coverage. The original translation (I'm correcting) reads "grassy lawn"- I think that's not acceptable- agree?

you need to provide some more dtail but for a football pitch for example you would day in italian "il manto erboso" and translated as the grassy usrface

After your discussion item, I would go for the plural as it is clearer in conveying the actual state of the art of "your" mansion.
In this purview not even grass turf is wrong, but I find it less appropriate.

If you read Merriam Webster's definition for grassy lawn (see below) it would appear to be appropriate but indicating a lawn "rich/abounding" with grass. So the choice is up to you.
